What is the Heart Wall?
Your heart is the most powerful organ in your body and the essence of who you are. With every beat of your heart, it sends messages into every cell in your body as well as to your brain. During times of emotional pain, trauma, or distress, our subconscious mind will often build an energetic wall around our heart to protect it from being hurt or injured. In that moment, it can be helpful to have this wall to protect us from the negative things that are happening to us, but once we are safe, it is essential that the heart-wall is removed so that we can let love and other positive things back into our heart. Usually, our body will do this on its own when it feels that it is safe for the heart. However, sometimes this does not happen, and then the long-term effects of this prevent us from feeling our emotions, and we end up feeling disconnected and unfilled.
How do you determine if you have a heart wall?
Having a Heart-Wall can make it harder to give and receive love. You may not be able to feel positive emotions as deeply, such as happiness, gratitude, and empathy. This can cause you to feel loneliness, isolation, and sadness. A Heart-Wall can impact you physically as well. Ask yourself the following questions. If you answer YES to any of them, you may have a Heart-Wall.
Have you ever lost a loved one?
Do you feel you can’t fully experience joy or happiness?
Have you ever been injured emotionally in the past?
Is it hard for you to connect with others?
Have you ever had a miscarriage?
Do you feel lonely or isolated from those around you?
Have you ever felt an emotional heaviness like your heart was breaking?
